Enshrouded Amber: Location, Farming Spot and Every Use

Amber is a Revelwood material, mined from red amber veins inside the shroud. It is common, stacks to 250, and the official wiki lists it at level 13, which puts it in the same band as the rest of the Revelwood's resources. The richest known cluster sits in a deep shroud cavity between the Abandoned Hunter Camp and the Hidden Hollow Tomb, north of the Revelwood Ancient Spire.

Fast facts:

  • Type: Materials, common rarity, stack size 250.
  • Biome: Revelwood, inside the shroud.
  • Source: red amber veins, mined with a pickaxe.
  • Level band: 13.
  • Best known spot: the deep shroud cavity north of the Revelwood Ancient Spire, between the Abandoned Hunter Camp and the Hidden Hollow Tomb.
  • Biggest sink: Eternal Fireball I, at 25 amber per craft.

What Amber Is

The wiki's description is unusually poetic for a crafting material: amber is "created through years of petrification" and has "become a beautiful material used for production". That is a hint about where it comes from and what it is for. Amber is petrified shroud resin, and it functions as the Revelwood's gemstone: a mid-tier ingredient that appears in fire spells, caster and ranger armor, and high-end furniture.

Where to Find Amber

Amber only spawns in the Revelwood, and only inside shroud-covered ground. The veins read as red-amber-coloured rock formations embedded in the shroud floor and walls, and they are easy to miss at night because the shroud haze mutes colour. Bring a light source, or mine during the day when the red reads clearly against the grey-green ground.

The wiki's own location note points at a single dense cluster. From the Revelwood Ancient Spire, travel north into the deep shroud cavity that lies between the Abandoned Hunter Camp and the Hidden Hollow Tomb. That cavity holds multiple amber veins close together, which makes it the best single trip in the game for this material.

Mark the cavity on your map

Place a marker at the cavity entrance rather than at the veins themselves. The cavity has more than one vein, and a single marker at the entrance saves you from re-navigating the shroud every time you come back for another stack.

Three practical warnings about that spot:

  • The shroud is lethal on a timer. The cavity is deep shroud, so the timer runs faster than at the biome edge. Carry shroud resistance gear or plan a short trip.
  • It is enemy territory. Deep cavities spawn the Revelwood's tougher enemies, including the fell creatures that hit hard in confined spaces.
  • Veins are finite per location. Keen Games has not published respawn rules for ore nodes, so treat a stripped vein as gone and mark the ones you have cleared.

If the cavity is too dangerous at your level, the fallback is the shroud edge around the Revelwood's Ancient Spire and along the roads between POIs, where single veins appear in smaller pockets. The yield per vein is lower but the risk is manageable at level 13.

How to Mine Amber Efficiently

Amber is a pickaxe material, and the extraction itself is the easy part. The difficulty is the trip: shroud timer, enemy density and inventory space all fight you at once.

  1. Clear the cavity first, then mine. Fighting while carrying a full load is how players lose stacks to a death run.
  2. Drop a Flame Altar outside the cavity if you can spare the shroud wood. It gives you a respawn point that is not half a biome away.
  3. Mine everything before you sort. Amber shares inventory space with stone and dirt, so pick up, then dump the junk at a chest near the altar.
  4. Leave one vein intact as a landmark if you plan to return, so you can confirm you are in the right cavity.

Because amber stacks to 250, a single full stack covers most of the recipes below with room to spare. The exception is Eternal Fireball I, which eats 25 per craft and is the reason players who "already have amber" suddenly do not.

What Amber Is Used For

Amber's recipe list is long, and it splits cleanly into four categories: armor, spells, ammunition and furniture. The table below covers the uses that matter, with the exact costs from the wiki.

Recipe Category Amber cost Other notable materials
Eternal Fireball I Spell 25 Petrified Shroud Stalker Shell 5, Charcoal 25, Bronze Bars 3
Fire Bolt III x20 Ammunition 3 Resin 4
Fire Bolt IV x20 Ammunition 4 Charcoal 4
Fireball II x20 Spell 5 Tar 4, Resin 10
Pillar of Flames I x20 Spell 5 Charcoal 5, Resin 10
Fire Totem I x20 Placeable 5 Bronze Bars 1, Charcoal 10, Straw 2
Poisoned Bronze Arrow x25 Ammunition 2 Poison Sack 1, Bronze Arrow 25
Adventurer Chest Armor 4 Bones 2, Dried Fur 2, Copper Bar 4, Giant Critter Scales 3
Cutthroat Gloves Armor 4 Shroud Sack 2, Copper Bars 1, Reptile Leather 1
Healer Tunic Armor 6 Indigo Plant 4, Copper Bars 4, Giant Critter Scales 3, Goo 1
Mage Chest Armor 6 Giant Critter Scales 3, Glow Dust 1, Copper Bars 2, Indigo Plant 4
Ranger Vest Armor 4 Linen 1, Reptile Leather 1, Copper Bar 4, Giant Critter Scales 3
Ghostly Shield Shield 4 Copper Bars 2, Giant Critter Scales 1
Polished Wooden Throne Furniture 20 Check the station for the full list
Large Boreal Cupboard Furniture 16 Lapislazuli 8

The pattern is worth internalising before you spend: amber is a fire material first and a furniture material second. Every fire spell line from Fire Bolt III upward takes amber, and the Eternal variant of Fireball takes a full 25 in one craft. If you are building a fire mage, amber is a consumable, not a collectible.

Do not spend amber on dyes or decoration early

Furniture recipes like the throne and the cupboards look tempting in the building menu, but 16 to 20 amber is a full farming trip. Craft your combat gear first; the furniture will still be there at level 40.

Pairing the Amber Run with a Goo Run

The Revelwood supplies both amber and the ingredients for Goo, and the two loops overlap almost completely. Shroud Mushrooms grow on Tall Mushroom Stalks in the same shroud, staggering the same enemies that guard the amber veins, and the Mortar that turns them into Goo is also where Fireball II and Pillar of Flames are made.

That means one trip should fill three needs: amber from the veins, mushrooms from the stalks, and Critter Parts from the stingers you kill on the way. The Goo crafting guide has the exact recipe chain, including the Bug Dust prerequisite that blocks the Goo recipe until you craft it once.

If you are still deciding what to build around the fire spells, the new spells guide covers the 1.0 additions and the eternal upgrade path, and the best armor sets page explains which of the amber armor pieces are worth the material cost. The map and biomes guide is the reference for where the Revelwood sits relative to the other regions and what level band each one expects.

How Much Amber Should You Stockpile?

A reasonable target before you start spending:

Situation Target stock
Just entered the Revelwood 20 to 30
Building a fire mage 100+, because Eternal Fireball eats 25 per craft
Crafting the mid-game armor sets 30 to 40
Furnishing a main base 60+, if you want the amber furniture

Two stacks of 250 will carry a full playthrough of normal crafting, and the only way to burn through them is repeated Eternal Fireball crafts. If you are short, farm the cavity rather than buying from a vendor, because amber is not sold by the merchants in the current build.

FAQ

Where is amber in Enshrouded? In red amber veins inside the Revelwood shroud, at level 13. The densest cluster is the deep cavity north of the Revelwood Ancient Spire, between the Abandoned Hunter Camp and the Hidden Hollow Tomb.

What is amber used for? Fire spells and ammunition, caster and ranger armor pieces, a shield, and high-end furniture. Eternal Fireball I is the largest single sink at 25 amber.

Does amber respawn? Keen Games has not published node respawn rules. Treat each vein as a one-off and mark cleared ones rather than planning a repeat trip to the same rock.

Can you buy amber from a vendor? No. The merchants in the current build do not stock amber, so mining is the only source.
