Enshrouded Crafting Guide: Stations, Recipes and 1.0 Rebalance

Enshrouded 1.0 rebalanced crafting harder than it added to it. The patch lowered the grind on the recipes players run constantly, reworked armor set unlock criteria so sets unlock on Flame upgrades instead of on mining the right material, made storage chests upgradable in place, and introduced mined gems as a resource for spell charge recipes. Two new station arrivals matter: the Gem Forge, placeable in a player base in the late game, and the Quick Stash Station, moved earlier in the progression with a small side quest that introduces it.

  • Armor sets now unlock automatically as the Flame is upgraded, so you cannot miss a tier by skipping a resource node.
  • Alchemical Base needs far fewer parts per resource, and the glider needs less Shroud Adhesive.
  • Spell charge recipes gained mined gems and lost several rare or hard-to-gather resources.
  • Legendary items now require legendary runes one upgrade step later than before.
  • The Gem Forge is crafted and placed in a base during the late game.

The crafting loop in 1.0

The loop is unchanged in shape. You gather materials, unlock or craft a station, and craft gear, food, potions and building pieces from recipes that appear as you progress. What 1.0 changed is the friction in the middle of that loop, and the changes fall into three groups.

  • Cost reductions. Recipes that players craft in bulk had their resource requirements cut, so less time is spent re-farming the same node.
  • Unlock logic. Armor set unlocks moved from pickup and quest criteria to Flame upgrades, which removes the failure state where a player simply never found the trigger.
  • Storage integration. Storage chests upgrade in place to Magic chests, and factory menus were reworked to better show resources available in Magic chests.

The result is a crafting system that still asks you to explore for top-tier materials but no longer asks you to re-run starter biomes for mid-tier ones.

Stations and what each adds

The 1.0 patch notes name two stations directly. Everything else is the existing set you already know from early access, with reworked output and timings.

Station Where it comes from Why it matters
Gem Forge Crafted and placed in a player base, late game Moves late-game gem work into the base
Quick Stash Station Unlocked earlier in the crafting progression, with a side quest Storage management during active play
Magic chests and 24-slot chests Craftable earlier in the progression than before The crafting loop now reads from storage sooner
Factory and cooking stations Existing stations, reworked in 1.0 Higher yields and reduced production times

The official notes also confirm that the crafting survivors for the different combat classes now offer upgrade services for eternal spells and eternal arrows. That is the biggest crafting-side change for mage and ranger players, because eternal spells and eternal arrows upgrade like weapons, with tiers and perks, and the upgrade service lives with the class survivors rather than in a separate menu.

Mei-Yin Chen covers the vanity side. Vanity items can be crafted with gold coins at Mei-Yin Chen once unlocked, and a few recipes moved to her, including fireworks and confetti bombs. She now has a preview model when placed, so you can see what a station will look like before committing it to a base layout.

Recipes that were rebalanced in 1.0

This is the part of the patch with the most individual lines, and the direction is consistent: less grinding per craft.

Recipe or material 1.0 change
Alchemical Base Needs far fewer parts per resource
Glider Needs less Shroud Adhesive
Armor set recipes, all tiers Fewer resources overall, and costs are more similar between sets
Flame Level recipes at levels 6 to 9 Reduced resource amounts
Flame Level recipes, specific inputs Electric Organs and Poison Stings replaced with more common resources
Spell charges Mined gems added as a resource; rare and hard-to-gather inputs removed
Spell charges and arrow recipes Reduced Ectoplasm requirement
Hollow Hall furniture recipes Reduced Ectoplasm requirement
Chitin powder Can now also be crafted from critter parts
Personal crafting list New Puke Potion recipe added
Revelwood tier New skewer recipes

Two of these deserve detail. The armor set pass was not only about cost: the notes say recipes now need fewer resources overall and that costs are more similar between sets, which fixes the case where one set required a far rarer material than its tier neighbours. The Flame Level change went further and swapped specific late components for common resources, which affects base building as much as gear crafting.

Legendary items require legendary runes one upgrade step later now. That single line is the main upgrade-side shift in the patch. If you were planning a legendary upgrade path around the old rune step, recalculate it before you spend materials.

The Puke Potion is the odd addition. It is a personal crafting recipe that removes any ongoing food buffs. There is no combat use case in the notes, and the official text describes it as not a pleasant experience, so treat it as a convenience item for clearing a buff you did not want.

Crafting straight from storage

Storage behaviour changed in ways that reduce trips to a chest. Chests can be converted to Magic chests and upgraded in place, without emptying them first or picking them up as a crafting resource, and factory menus were reworked to better show what resources are available in Magic chests.

One important caveat landed in Hotfix 1.0.0.2. A bug was fixed where salvaging gear in a storage chest, with a completely filled backpack, caused the runes from the salvage to disappear. If you salvaged gear out of a chest in the first days of 1.0 and ended up with fewer runes than expected, that is the reason.

The personal recipe list itself was reorganised rather than expanded. Very important recipes sort to the top, and recipes you only craft a few times move to the bottom, with the same reordering applied inside the survivor crafting lists.

Armor and weapon upgrade services

The armor unlock change is the one that affects a fresh 1.0 save the most. Previously, sets unlocked through different criteria such as picking up specific resources, which meant a player could miss a set for hours or permanently. After 1.0, every time the Flame is upgraded, armor sets for the following crafting tier unlock automatically.

The official notes give two reasons, and both are practical. Players no longer miss important upgrades because they failed to mine the correct material or missed a quest, and the set recipes now guide progression through the new biome rather than trailing behind it.

Ranger gear saw its own rework on top of that. The Revelwood and Nomad Highlands tiers previously had no craftable set focused on dagger builds, with dagger sets available only as loot. Both tiers now have a craftable ranged set and a craftable dagger set each, while the Marksman and Sharpshooter sets were converted into loot items for Revelwood and Nomad Highlands loot chests respectively. The Assassin, Frostbite Slasher and Blood Feather dagger sets, plus a new set in the same family, traded a sneak attack damage increase for a melee attack critical hit chance upgrade perk.

Upgrade services are split by class

The class crafting survivors handle eternal spell and eternal arrow upgrades, while the Flame upgrade handles armor set unlocks. There is no single menu that covers both, so a build change often means talking to two different systems.

Materials worth stockpiling

Stockpiling advice changes with every rebalance, so this is what the 1.0 numbers actually reward.

  • Stone of your current biome. Recipe stone now uses the biome variation, so Springlands stone is no longer a universal currency.
  • Shroud Adhesive. Demand dropped for the glider, but the material is still a common mid-game input and worth keeping a stack of.
  • Ectoplasm. Demand dropped in spell charges, arrows and Hollow Hall furniture, while supply increased because hounds and Hollow melee fighters now drop it. It is the safest material to bank.
  • Mined gems. Newly relevant to spell charge recipes, which changes gem farming from an optional activity into part of a mage rotation.
  • Critter parts. Now feed chitin powder as well, which gives a previously niche drop a use in later tiers.

The general rule after 1.0 is that fewer exotic materials are required and more common ones are, so a broad stockpile beats a deep one.

FAQ

What is the new crafting station in Enshrouded 1.0? The Gem Forge, which is crafted and placed in a player base during the late part of the game. The Quick Stash Station is a second arrival, moved earlier in the crafting progression with a side quest attached.

How do I unlock armor sets now? Every time the Flame is upgraded, the armor sets for the following crafting tier unlock automatically. The old pickup and quest based unlock criteria were removed.

Can I craft directly from storage chests? Factory menus were reworked to better show the resources available in Magic chests, and chests can be upgraded in place to Magic chests without emptying them first.

Why do my legendary upgrades cost more runes? Because legendary items now require legendary runes one upgrade step later than they did before 1.0. The total cost did not go up so much as move later in the upgrade path.

What does the Puke Potion do? It is a new personal crafting recipe that removes any ongoing food buffs. The official patch notes describe the experience as unpleasant but give no combat purpose.

Which recipes got cheaper in 1.0? Alchemical Base, armor sets at all tiers, Flame Level recipes at levels 6 to 9, spell charges, arrow recipes and Hollow Hall furniture recipes all had inputs reduced or removed.
